“Follow Ups” - How Important for any Business?

How Important you think the “Follow Up” process is for business?

Recently, I was in discussion with one businessman and that really opened up my mind for this conversation with you. 

In a recent survey conducted, it shows 80% of business comes in majority of Businesses is due to rigorous ans continuous follow up with the tentative clients

However on the contrary 44% do Sales persons give up after First follow up and additional 36% do give up after second follow up. Hence on and all 80% gives up in one or two rounds of follow up with clients.

So where does this 80% business goes like we spoke earlier?

Quite simple isn’t it - to those remaining 20% sales persons who did not gave up after one or two follow ups but they continued the process till they converted the lead to sale. 

It is important here to understand that the more you stay consistent with your follow ups than you are already in progress and are ahead of others. 

What is consistent Follow Up?

Research shows, 80% of Sales happens after minimum of “5” phone calls after any  sales meeting

More than 30% - 50% business goes to Vendors who responds fast or first. Hence it is important to understand as part of your follow up post your meeting, it’s equally important to revert back your client quicker than anyone else. 

Consistently if you are in practice of reverting back to your client fast/first, clients also gradually starts noticing the same and eventually over a period of time expecting the same and hence building conference within the companies

50% of leads what we have are generally confirmed leads but the “duration to buy” can be longer. Hence it becomes important to stay in consistent follow ups with concerned team or a person 

This also means that if you stay in continuous follow ups, you are already ahead of lots of people in the race.

People are busy generally

As a working person yourself, you also must have observed that you are occupied with lots of things during the day.

There are lots of things waiting for you to catch up in your inbox or in your office cabin. 

Not everyone could be as good as you may be with Email Management skills, that surely do not mean they are not good managers, but surely it means you will have to Invest more on follow ups

Effective follow ups leads to open new doors for Sales surely

Follow ups genuinely help to build trust with friends, family & business connections. It surely allows other to believe your strong belief on the product

It also shows that you are not a “one time wonder“ and shall be around in times of need, should there be any post sales issue arising

Keep up the hard work going to build your sales, but at the same time, don’t forget that “Follow UPS”  are the best and long lasting key to your personal and your business success

  3. I agree consistant follow up is the key in sales business. As industry has recognized 80% of time first few follow up doesn't lead anywhere they have promoted ROBO calling but above article will serve good reference for startup company what to expect for initial few conversations and what will leads them to success. Normally people writes books before concluding simple fact "Consistancy" is the key factor but above article did it very briefly and effectively with stats. Nice Job and keep it up.

  8. First ever blogpost I have come across on “Follow ups” in Bussiness. Unique topic. As rightly mentioned by the great JT that Consistent follow up = Confidence within companies. Never thought of “follow ups” so deeply but when I read this I realised its value in true sense.
